Variety Grants

Variety provides three types of grants:

All of our grants are evaluated based on the following priorities:

Variety Cares - Our First Priority
These grants account for the largest proportion of funds disbursed annually and are given to organizations that provide life saving health care services and can include equipment, renovation and constructions costs. Examples include: new, or the improvement of existing, equipment for Neo-Natal Intensive care units such as incubators, or the construction of new health care facilities such as pediatric and maternal wards which care for the province’s special needs babies and children.

Applications in this category are accepted and considered throughout our grant year.

Variety Freedom - Our Second Priority
These grants include mobility equipment, ongoing therapies or assistive devices that enhance communication. These are the “I can” grants and can also include funds which go to child development centers and other community groups who provide relevant services to children and their families in the form of: renovation or construction costs, equipment costs or funds to originate new programs or services.

Applications in this category are also accepted and considered throughout our grant year.

Variety Future - Our Third Priority
Future grants provide rewarding experiences for children through recreational, social or educational opportunities. Organizations may receive funds to operate programs (such as specialized camps) for children who have special needs, or have equipment that grants a child greater access or independence to enjoy a new and rewarding experience. Funds in this category also contribute to schools who provide educational experiences for children who have learning challenges.

Although important, funding is primarily dispersed to the two higher priorities.
