Hannah was born with Mitochondrial Encephalomyopathy, a progressively debilitating neurological disorder. Variety provided a grant for Hannah and her mother to go to New York to meet the only specialist in the world working on this disorder. Since then, Variety has also provided grants to make the family’s bathroom safer and more accessible for Hannah and modified their van.
