Urban Variety, a committee of Variety – The Children’s Charity designed to provide opportunities to young professionals and students to develop leadership skills and network while having fun and raising money, is having another event!

Where: The Academic, 1619 West Broadway (at Fir), Vancouver
When: Tuesday, March 9th, 2010 at 7pm
This is a gathering for members and anyone they would like to bring. Great opportunity to mingle and have fun!

Radiothons

Variety Children’s Radiothons are annual events that introduce listeners to some of the children Variety has helped in various communities throughout British Columbia while raising money. All funds raised at each Radiothon stay in the community in to support local families and children’s organizations. It is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses and families to get involved and help children in their area.

Radiothon's are truly community based events and their succes depends a great deal on local support. Whether donating your time or money, Variety cannot do it without your help. Radiothon volunteers are always needed so if you live in the following cities - Vernon, Kelowna, Prince George, Courtenay/Campbell River, Nanaimo or Kamloops, we will be coming to your town over the spring and summer. BC Bowls for Kids

Last chance to bowl for the kids and win some great prizes!

The first FIVE people to raise $200 online will each receive a coupon for a FREE MEDIUM PIZZA from Panago!

The individual who raises the most money will win a night for 2 in the Harbor Suite at Miraloma on the Cove in beautiful Sidney on Vancouver Island.

The team who raises the most money will receive $150 from Booster Juice and 5 Medium Pizzas from Panago so your group can celebrate in style!

Show of Hearts Telethon

Thanks to the incredible generosity of British Columbians, the 44th Annual Variety Show of Hearts Telethon raised $7,431,869 for children in the province! The 23 hour Telethon began Saturday night and wrapped up early in the evening on Sunday on Global BC. Many thanks to our tireless volunteers, loyal corporate partners and generous donors for making the Telethon a wonderful success! You are all making a huge difference in the lives of children.

Variety Auction and Vintage Market

The Annual Variety Auction and Vintage Market presented by Buy-Low Foods took place on Sunday 25th, October at the Westin Bayshore Vancouver. The tickets sold out fast, with record breaking attendance. This amazing event featured over 200 silent auction items, a live auction over brunch and the Buy-Low Vintage Market - a grocery store set up in the hotel for the day, with all goods at the vintage prices!

Those who attended certainly spent well - grocery carts were piled high! Variety must say a huge thank you to Buy-Low and their suppliers for their efforts around this occasion plus all the volunteers who helped in the organization beforehand and on the day. The total raised for this event was close to $90, 000, an incredible amount that will help children all over BC who have special needs.

After an intense few days up here in Kamloops, we are very happy to announce that we have raised $42,000 at the 7th Annual Kamloops Variety Children’s Radiothon! We have to give a huge thanks to our generous donors and sponsors in Kamloops and the surrounding area. You are truly making a difference in the lives of children and families in your community. All funds raised over the past two days will stay in the area to help local kids and organizations that support children. Kamloops was our last Radiothon of the year and we have had a great Radiothon season. This year the sixth Radiothons raised a combined total of $200,000! Thanks to our generous sponsors and donors from each Radiothon community – Vernon, Kelowna, Prince George, Courtney/Campbell River, Nanaimo and of course Kamloops!

Kids Launch their Coin Drive

The Kids Coin Drive for Variety had its official launch yesterday in Downtown Vancouver. Many of the Coin Kids and their families gathered for a morning of press interviews, meet and greets and some very heart warming speeches by a few Coin Drive parents. As the moms spoke about the huge difference Variety has made in the lives of their families, it was unbelievable to see what an impact their words had on those in the room. Hearing these stories first hand is truly amazing and really inspires us to work harder because the end result is so incredible. You can help out by donating to the Coin Drive on our website, dropping off your coins at any Marketplace IGA throughout BC or at any other participating outlet near you.
