Buy-Low Foods
Buy-Low Foods has been involved with Variety - The Children’s Charity for over 20 years. We are very proud of the strong relationship we have with our suppliers and dedicated employees that allows us to become involved in many fundraising events throughout the year. Boat for Hope, Picnic in the Park, Buy Low Variety Classic Golf Tournament, Variety Auction and Vintage Market and the annual Variety Show of Hearts Telethon are the major events we support.
I personally get involved because it makes me feel good knowing I am helping children in British Columbia who have special needs. I am proud of the relationship we have built with Variety and the many dedicated volunteers. Variety - The Children’s Charity is Buy-Low Foods' charity of choice.

Mustang Survival
As one of the original founders of "Boat For Hope" I have been involved with Variety for over 12 years. Being a boater and working for Mustang Survival, I wanted to give back to the community some of the joys I have been so fortunate to have experienced in our beautiful marine environment. I especially wanted children who have challenges that restrict their ability to enjoy life on the water to have the opportunity to take part.
Boat For Hope has allowed me great personal satisfaction as every year we take over 350 children who have special needs out on the water for a special pirate-themed outing. We have a great group of skippers who take the children on a hunt for loot within False Creek. Upon their return to land they enjoy lunch at “Treasure Island” and a fun-filled afternoon of face painting, entertainment and more much. This one day does not only become a special experience for these children but it also raises funds for Variety that will help them throughout the year.
We will be going into our 12th year next year and what keeps me, and all of the volunteers going, is seeing the smiles on the children's faces year after year. We now have the whole Marine community in Vancouver coming together for this special day. I am very proud to work with Variety and to play a small part in their important work in supporting children in BC who have special needs.

Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort & Conference Centre
Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort has been known for more than 30 years as a family resort. Family owned and operated for many of those years, Tigh-Na-Mara has supported Variety in a number of small ways. In the fall of 2008, we increased our support and designated Variety - The Children’s Charity as one of our five key charities, enabling Tigh-Na-Mara to make more meaningful contributions and become a true Variety partner.
There were several things important to the Tigh-Na-Mara team in selecting a charity:
• The opportunity to support and give back to our local community and by extension Vancouver Island • The opportunity for our entire team to participate in fundraising efforts • The opportunity to use the Tigh-Na-Mara brand and extend the reach of Variety - The Children’s Charity.
For Tigh-Na-Mara, Variety just makes sense. When supporting Variety, we can ensure children facing physical, mental, emotional, learning or financial challenges can get the basic equipment and services they need to encourage independence, safety, growth and development.
All dollars raised in the community, stay in the community. Tigh-Na-Mara is a very proud fundraising partner in support of local families. Through Variety, we are able to positively impact the lives of our friends and neighbours, ensuring families get the support they need.
The entire Tigh-Na-Mara Team has gotten involved in raising funds. From our children’s “Bouncy Castle” donations to a Canada Day BBQ to room package donations, our team and our guests have raised more than $1500 in support of Variety in 2009. This is in addition to Tigh-Na-Mara’s commitment of $5000 cash for Boat for Hope and more than $5000 in in-kind donations.
