Variety provides funding to organizations that support child development and hospitals that provide medical care to any child in need of pediatric treatment or intervention. Variety has, in the past, spearheaded capital campaigns to build BC Children’s Hospital, Canuck Place, Down Syndrome Research Foundation and Resource Centre, BC Family Hearing Resource Centre and the Variety C.H.I.L.D. Gastroenterology and Liver Research Laboratory at BC Children’s Hospital. Variety has also provided funding to nearly every Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the province.
When to Apply
Variety considers applications from Organizations from the start of our Fiscal period; October 1st to September 30th. Applications are accepted throughout the year but approvals are generally made in order of priority.Funding for FUTURE requests may be reallocated in any given year, if Variety receives requests of a higher priority. As a result, FUTURE requests are usually not decided earlier than our third quarter.
How to Apply
The process for application is generally initiated with a phone call, brief e-mail or letter outlining the request, which Variety’s Heart Fund will discuss with the applicant. Should the request fit within Variety priorities and the year’s funding capabilities, an application will be requested by the Heart of Variety Fund Committee, which is comprised of Variety volunteers and Board Members. A final decision is communicated in writing.
