The Nanaimo Child Development Centre's association with Variety - The Children's Charity began in 1989, when we approached Variety for assistance with the expansion of the Centre, then serving only 330 children. Specialized equipment was purchased through their support in 1990 and with an ever growing increase in the number of children being served, we obtained funding once again in 2006 for another expansion of our facility.
Here we are now, serving over 1700 children annually and facing a wait list of nearly 350 children with identified needs requiring services. Our approach to alleviate this waitlist is to once again expand our work space and with the help of Variety, we will increase our work/therapy space for those in the community who are in need of our assistance. We are grateful to have the opportunity to partner with Variety to help the children and families whom we serve.
