With over 500 million people worldwide currently living with diabetes – raising awareness is so important. Type 1 Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases among children and youth and that is why Variety BC is stepping up and helping to provide children in BC with access to a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM). There are many dangers associated with high and low blood sugar levels which is why providing kids with a CGM can be life-changing and life-saving.
We would like to take this opportunity on World Diabetes Day to express our incredible thanks to the Coquitlam Foundation for providing a grant in the amount of $10,000 to support two kids in their community with CGM’s for 1 year. Receiving a Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis can be devastating for not only the child, but the entire family, and this wonderful gift will provide some much-needed peace of mind as these two families adjust to a new way of life.
