Cory’s Story

Pillar:  Mobility

Cory is an outgoing 4-year-old boy from Kelowna who was diagnosed with Lipid 1 Deficiency, a genetic disorder. He has bilateral dorsiflexion weakness in his hips and lower legs when walking.

Cory is at a high risk for falls and further worsening of his plantar flexion contracture without proper stabilization. Variety provided Cory with bilateral ankle foot orthotics to help him walk.

Since wearing his AFO’s, Cory has not only become more mobile and more active but more independent as well!
