I was a contract employee with a large organization and was laid off from my work when it became necessary to self-isolate.
My son Ashton was enrolled in Speech Therapy and both and my eldest son Jayden were receiving Behavioural Exercise Therapy at that time. Suddenly everything shut down. We went through two weeks of issues with uncontrolled behavior and acting out. I did the best I could to keep my boys occupied and on track. None of us wanted to lose all of the ground we’d made in the past six months but things were becoming dire. I am a single parent and there I was … the only adult in the household watching my boys lose all of the progress they had fought so hard to achieve. It was one of the hardest times in my life since my boys were diagnosed with Autism. Then after three weeks, Ashton’s Speech Therapist – who is funded by Variety – began giving us virtual Speech Therapy online. It was a ray of sunshine in the darkness.
Thank you Variety! – Anita, J
