Isabella’s Story

Pillar:  Lifesaving Medical Equipment

Isabella is a 10-year-old girl  from Coquitlam who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Variety provided Isabella with a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) … a small wearable device that eases the burden of T1D by providing real-time blood sugar level readings. Her CGM has an alarm feature that alerts Isabella’s parents if blood sugar levels are dropping low or going high allowing them to be able to remotely monitor her blood sugar levels which in turn allows Isabella more independence while preventing episodes of severe hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia. This lifesaving technology helps ensure that Isabella stays safe and that her parents have some peace of mind.
